Three women arrested in Beaufort County on drug-related charges
WASHINGTON, Beaufort County - Three women, two from Beaufort County and another from Virginia, were arrested on Dec. 18 and are facing drug charges.
Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office Drug Unit arrested Heather Freelove Sawyer, 32, of 2930 Camp Leach Road in Washington; Sarah Pinkham, 35, of 2998 Ephesus Church Road in Blounts Creek; and Tina Marie Bernal, 32, of 7440 Jericho Road in Ruther Glen, Va. They were charged with possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Investigators said they received information that Sawyer had traveled to Greenville to purchase heroin. Investigators conducted a traffic stop while Sawyer was coming back to Beaufort County. Pinkham, Bernall and a small child were also in the vehicle.
Investigators found a plastic bag containing a small amount of heroin and two snorting straws in the common area of the vehicle. A used syringe was found hidden in the child's car seat.
The three women were confined in the Beaufort County Center under a $2,000 secured bond. Child Protective Services were notified about the incident.
