Teen arrested for one convenience store break-in arrested for more

KINSTON, Lenoir County - Following an arrest late last week for a break-in at a local convenience store, Kinston Police announced they had more charges for that 17-year-old.

Kinston PD spokesperson Woody Spencer says Devonte Cantey was one of several individuals who broke in to Sam's Mini Mart on 1419 North Queen Street and multiple vehicles in the Fairfield neighborhood on July 29. Spencer said Cantey is charged with eight counts of breaking and entering into a motor vehicle, breaking and entering (for the Sam's incident), larceny and larceny of a firearm.

He was booked into the Lenoir County Jail and issued a $10,000 secured bond just for the Sam's Mini-Mart charges.

Spencer said KPD is actively searching for Cantey's accomplices in the July 29 incidents. They are asking anyone with information to call Lenoir County Crime Stoppers at (252) 523-4444 or the TIPS LINE at (252) 939-4020.
