Suspect wanted in string of Pitt County larceny cases arrested

A suspect wanted in connection to a string of larceny cases in the Pitt County area has been arrested.

On Thursday, October 26, at 7:31 a.m., deputies with the Pitt County Sheriff's Office responded to a larceny from a residence on East Lang Street in Fountain.

It was reported to deputies sometime during the night a garden tiller was taken. During the investigation, deputies identified William Thomas Prayer, 16, as the suspect in that case.

Officials continued to investigate Prayer due to similar crimes in the area. They connected Prayer to six other cases.

Prayer is being charged with 3 counts felony breaking or entering, 3 counts larceny after breaking or entering, 3 counts larceny, injury to personal property, trespassing, breaking or entering a motor vehicle.

The teenager is being held in Pitt County Detention Center on a $78,000 secured bond.
