Suspect arrested after leading police in car chase last week

GREENVILLE, Pitt county - The suspect wanted on drug charges who led deputies on a car chase last week has been arrested.

According to arrest records, the Pitt County Sheriff's Office booked the suspect, Justin Johnson, on Wednesday, November 1. He is currently facing nine different charges, including feeling and eluding arrest and trafficking cocaine.

Reports originally stated that the suspect led deputies on a high speed chase that ended near the U.S. 264 Alternate over the Tar River. Johnson then ran into traffic, got out of his vehicle and ran under a bridge.

At some point during the chase, officials said one of their cruisers was damaged. K-9's were also brought in to help find the suspect.

Johnson is set to have his first appearance in court on November 2. He was booked into the Pitt County Detention Center under a $500,000 bond.
