Suspect arrested after assaulting New Bern resident with brick

NEW BERN, Craven County - A suspect was arrested after allegedly assaulting a New Bern resident with a brick.

On November 25, at approximately 10:50 p.m., officers responded to the area of Second Avenue and Broad Street in reference to a subject bleeding.

Upon arrival, officers discovered that Jimmy Ray Clark, the victim, was assaulted after Antoine Lamont Humphrey allegedly forced his way into Clark's residence to attack him with a brick.

Officers learned that the incident stemmed from a previous disagreement.

Clark was transported to CarolinaEast Medical Center. He was treated for his injuries and then released.

Humphrey was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and first degree burglary. He was jailed with an $115,000 secured bond.

Humphrey's first court appearance is scheduled for November 28 in Craven County District Court.
