Shoulder repairs require closure of part of I-40 in Duplin County
WILMINGTON - Eastbound motorists on I-40 in Duplin County will encounter a lane closure one mile before the N.C. 903 juncture.
The N.C. Department of Transportation reports the closure is needed to repair a shoulder damaged by storm water.
"Recent heavy rainfall has caused the shoulder behind the guardrail to deteriorate up to the edge of the pavement surface." said Adam Britt, Bridge Maintenance Engineer for NCDOT. "Repairing the shoulder will prevent further damage and ensure the safety of the traveling public."
The closures will be in place from 9 p.m. Monday until 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29. Transportation officials urge motorists to driver carefully through the work zone. For real-time travel information, visit DriveNC.gov or follow NCDOT on Twitter.
