Second suspect arrested in April 26 Onslow County shooting

JACKSONVILLE, Onslow County - The Onslow County Sheriff's Office has arrested a second suspect in a shooting that happened on April 26.

James Lee Cameron had outstanding warrants for his arrest and turned himself in on Monday. He was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury. He was transported to the Onslow County Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond.

The incident happened on April 26 in the 300 block of Cedar Creek Road. The victim, Quentin Jamal Smith, received medical attention from his injuries. Smith is expected to recover.

On April 29, Jermain Emanuel Johnson's vehicle, a 2012 Chevy Equinox, was found at the 500 block of Corbin Street in Jacksonville. The vehicle was seized after evidence was located in it that matched evidence recovered from the scene of the shooting.

Johnson later turned himself into authorities at the U.S. Probation. He was then picked up by deputies with the Onslow County Sheriff's Office and transported to the Onslow County Detention Center. He was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and possession of a firearm by felon. His bond was set by the magistrate at $107,000 secured.
