Second Annual Bunyan FD 9/11 Memorial Walk to take place this Saturday
WASHINGTON, Beaufort - The upcoming 9/11 Memorial Walk, hosted by Bunyan Volunteer Fire Department in Washington, North Carolina, will be taking place this Saturday, September 16, in the morning.
This is the second annual memorial observance run by the Department and will consist of a 2.5 mile walk. The walk represents the 110 flights of stairs that the first responders ascended in attempts to effect rescues at the World Trade Center.
People are invited to gather at 8264 Broad Creek Road in Washington at 8 a.m. The walk will start at 8:50 a.m. This start time reflects the arrival time of Battalion Chief Joseph Pfeifer, who was the first arriving FDNY official at the north tower.
For more information about the walk to remember the 343 firefighters who gave their lives on 9/11, contact Darrin Harris, Event Coordinator, at 252-945-4034 or visit the department website here.
