Rollover Accident on Highway 70 Eastbound
HIGHWAY 70, Craven County - Deputies arrested Kyale Taylor II, 25, of Kinston in the early hours of Saturday, in Craven County. Taylor fled the scene of a crash after he led a Highway Patrol trooper on a short chase from Jones County to Craven County on Highway 70.
While on routine patrol around 10 P.M., the trooper spotted the driver going at an excessive rate of speed. When the driver failed to stop at the troopers signal, the trooper proceeded to apply a 'PIT maneuver' which resulted in the car rolling over. The vehicle came to a rest in the wooded area just 3 miles from the Trenton-Cove City exit.
The driver then fled the scene while two injured passengers were helped out of the wreckage. The passengers didn't have serious injuries but were taken to the hospital. Taylor was later apprehended near the Glenburnie drive exit by a Craven County deputy, where he attempted, once again to flee. He faces several charges including reckless driving, speeding, felony flee to elude, resisting arrest, delay and obstruction. He was processed at the Jones County Detention Center and placed on a $45,000 bond.
