Road closure to impact traffic in one part of Onslow County on Aug. 7-11
JACKSONVILLE, Onslow County - Road work will be done at a location in Onslow County on Aug. 7-9 that may impact your drive.
The NC Department of Transportation said State Road 1509 (Queens Creek Road), located .30 mile from SR 1550 (Jumping Run Road) near Wood Creek Drive Intersection (private drive) both directions will be closed beginning Aug. 7 at 8 a.m. through Aug. 9 at 5 p.m. There may be some shoulder work with lane closures until Aug. 11.
The NCDOT Onslow Maintenance Department will be installing a cross-line at this location to alleviate flooding at this location and improve drainage.
Below are detour directions from the NCDOT: If traveling north, traffic should travel from SR 1509 north and turn left onto NC 24 West. Travel along NC 24 for approximately 4.76 miles and turn left at the signal onto NC 172. Take the next left 0.15 mile south of the intersection onto SR 1500 (Starling Road). Turn right after 0.12 mile onto SR 1501 (Sandridge Road) until reaching the stop sign at SR 1509 to return to Queens Creek Road. If south of road closure, travel along SR 1509 and turn right onto SR 1501 (Sandridge Road) until reaching the intersection of SR 1500 (Starling Road). Turn left onto SR 1500, travel 0.12 mile and turn right onto NC 172. Turn right onto NC 24 East at the signalized intersection and travel approximately 4.76 miles to return to SR 1509.
