Rezoning request not well received by some in Cedar Point
CEDAR POINT, Carteret County - A rezoning request is stirring up controversy in Cedar Point.
Town commissioners are set to decide on changing a residential parcel of 45 acres at the corner of NC 58 and 24 to a commercially zoned space.
Residents of the nearby Magens Bay subdivision say they oppose the move because the property owner has not said what sort of business he is hoping to attract to that space. By law, a rezoning application does not need to disclose that information.
The town's planning board voted 4-2 in favor of the rezoning last month. The Board of Commissioners meets at 6:30 p.m. at Town Hall Tuesday.
