Strong storms cause flooding in some parts of New Bern
NEW BERN, Craven County - Rain began around 5:45 Saturday night and it didn't let up until nearly 10:30.
In that time, radars estimate anywhere between three and five inches of rain fell in the area around New Bern.
Patricia Foye spent the next day helping her mother clean out her apartment, which she says flooded with nearly a foot of water during the storm.
"It's bad, but what are you going to do," says Foye. "It's best to get what we can cleaned up."
Leon Simmons and his mother, Lottie, dealt with high waters during the storm too. While water did not get inside the home, Simmons says it was about two-and-a-half feet high outside.
He claims flooding occurs whenever there is heavy rain.
