HOLLY RIDGE, Onslow County - Community members gathered Wednesday night in Jacksonville for a prayer service dedicated to missing 3-year-old Mariah Woods and her family.

Residents and friends attended an evening service at Folkstone Original Free Will Baptist Church. Pastor Cliff Wilson led the event for Woods, who went missing on Monday and has been part of a search that has involved the FBI, Onslow County Sheriff's Office and other organizations.

Wilson said they maintained a prayer chain at times of crises like this.

"We wanted to give a positive influence to the family tonight," Wilson said. "We wanted to show them that this community could come together in prayer. The most powerful force known to man is prayer and that is the most important thing that we could do."

Wilson said he also wanted to make sure the prayer service was totally dedicated to and focused on Mariah, her family and the community.
