Police on the hunt for armed robbery suspect who fired at Speedway employees

GREENVILLE, Pitt County - Police are searching for an armed robbery suspect after he fired a gun at two Speedway employees.

Deputies with Pitt County Sheriff's Office responded to the Speedway located at 5068 NC 33 East to calls of armed robbery at 3:28 a.m.

Two store clerks reported that they were robbed by a black male who was wearing a black hoodie under a khaki colored jacket and a mask covering his face, Lt. Kip Gaskins said in a press release.

Both clerks told police that the suspect entered the store with a handgun demanding money.

Before leaving the store with an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect fired one shot, hitting a display next to the counter.

No injuries were reported and there were no customers in the store at the time of the robbery.

Investigators are currently reviewing surveillance video for any investigative value.
