Police: Jacksonville man shot to death in downtown Wilmington
WILMINGTON - Police are investigating a shooting that killed a 27-year-old Jacksonville man over the weekend in downtown Wilmington.
Police responded to the 200 block of North Front Street around 6:15 a.m. Sunday where the victim, Corp.. Edwin Estrada, was found to have sustained fatal gunshot wounds. Estrada was based at Camp Lejeune as a CH-53 helicopter mechanic assigned to Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 464, Marine Aircraft Group 29. Estrada is from Los Angeles and joined the Marine Corps in 2014, according to a press release from Camp Lejeune.

Police say this is an isolated incident but an investigation into it continues.
