Person shot in arm with BB gun in Greenville; suspect arrested


GREENVILLE, Pitt County - A male was shot in the arm by a BB gun in front of the Holiday Inn in Greenville on Wednesday. A suspect is currently in police custody.

Greenville Police Public Information Officer Kristen Hunter said a call came in at 4:10 p.m. of a victim shot in the arm. When officers arrived, they found the victim -- who has not been identified -- shot in the arm by someone with a BB gun. The victim said he was standing on the sidewalk in front of the Holiday Inn when he was hit.

An 18-year-old male, who was reportedly randomly firing a BB gun out of a car, waited on the scene for officers to arrive and was placed in police custody with charges pending, Hunter said in an email.

The victim was transported to Vidant Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries.
