People have been throwing objects at oncoming traffic on NC Highway 111
GOLDSBORO - Police are investigating a series of incidents involving objects being thrown from moving vehicles at oncoming traffic along NC Highway 111.
The attacks are occurring from Dollardtown Road to Indian Springs Road, just south of Goldsboro, along NC Highway 111 South.
On Wednesday, October 15, between 3:00 a.m. and 1:30 a.m., three vehicles traveling on NC 111 Highway South were struck with thrown objects.
One victim's car was struck twice. She told police that she saw a white car, being followed by a pick-up truck, both times that her vehicle was struck and believes both vehicles were involved.
On Thursday, October 26, between 11:00 p.m. and 11:30 p.m., three more drivers were attacked. One victim stated that she observed a red car swerving in the opposite lane and believes the occupants threw something at her vehicle.
The other two victims observed a white pickup truck with loud exhaust. They also believe the occupants threw something at their vehicles, officials said.
On Tuesday, October 31, at or around 2:50 a.m., a tractor trailer driver reported that occupants of a dark colored passenger vehicle threw something at his truck. The object struck his windshield and knocked out his driver's side window, officials said.
This incident was the most serious. The truck driver was sent to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries, which included cuts to his face and glass in his eyes.
