Overnight fire in Duplin County turns deadly

FAISON, Duplin County - A fire overnight at a home on Goshen Street in the town of Faison turned deadly Wednesday night.

Duplin County Sheriff's Office officials tell NewsChannel 12 the victim was a female. She was identified Thursday as 60-year-old Sharon Williams DuBois.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is investigating the blaze. The State Bureau of Investigation was initially called, but turned the investigation over to the ATF, DCSO said.

The blaze took several hours to contain and eventually extinguish.

According to Duplin County Fire News, crews from Faison Fire Department, Calypso Fire Department and Warsaw Fire Department along with Duplin EMS all responded to the scene. Crews from Piney Grove FD, Smith Chapel FD, Oak Wolfe FD and Mt. Olive FD were also called in to help control the blaze.
