'Operation November Rain' works to round up drug arrests in Onslow Co.
JACKSONVILLE, Onslow County - Onslow County law enforcement held a press conference to talk about their latest drug arrest operation, "Operation November Rain."
The press conference was held Thursday, November 2, where officials talked about the operation and the efforts of sheriff's deputies, Jacksonville Police and other law enforcement to round up suspects on drug charges.
"We will do a roundup with the sheriff's office, with detectives at (Jacksonville) PD and they were also doing a roundup so we opted to do it together to maximize manpower," said Maj. Chris Thomas with the Onslow County Sheriff's Department. "It a lot more efficient so we can share information a lot easier."
The operation was a culmination of months of investigations focused on criminal drug activity in Jacksonville and Onslow County, officials said.
"As an agency, we felt it was important to work this operation jointly with Onslow County," Captain Ashley Weaver, Supervisor of JPD's Investigative Services Division. "We are one community and this kind of criminal activity has a negative effect on the community as a whole."
The first round of "Operation November Rain" was executed on Thursday, November 2. The Onslow County Sheriff's Office sought 33 subjects on 170 felony drug charges. The Jacksonville Police Department sought 25 subjects on 179 felony drug charges, officials said.
