Onslow County Sheriff's Deputy resigns after DWI charge
JACKSONVILLE, Onslow County - An Onslow County Sheriff's Office deputy lost his job after being arrested Sept. 17 for drunk driving.
According to The Daily News in Jacksonville, Kyle Stitz, 27, of Country Club Road in Jacksonville was arrested Sunday by the Onslow County Sheriff's Office. He was charged with driving while impaired, civil revocation of driver's license, reckless driving to endanger and open container after consuming alcohol. The newspaper reports he was pulled over on N.C. 210 near Old Folkstone Road in Sneads Ferry.
Stitz's blood alcohol was reported at .13, nearly twice the legal level.
Sheriff Hans Miller told the newspaper he gave Stitz the option to resign after the violation and failure of a field sobriety test. Stitz is expected to have a court date on Nov. 28, the newspaper reports.
