Onslow County opens new health facility
JACKSONVILLE, Onslow County - Onslow County government officials hosted a ribbon cutting Thursday morning to mark the official opening of the new health services building - a facility they say will bring thousands of dollars in savings to the county.
The new consolidated human services agency building, which will house the health department and social services departments for Onslow County, sits adjacent to the previous building, which will be torn down to make room for more parking. It is located on College Street in Jacksonville.
"Public health is for everyone in our community," Health Director Angela Lee said. "Not just those who come into our building but also those in the community that we access um who don't even realize that they're using our public health services."
The facility boasts numerous clinic spaces and areas for foster children to meet with foster and adoptive parents. Assistant County Manager Sheri Slater said the cost savings comes from not having to make continual repairs to the old facility, which sat in the old Onslow Memorial Hospital.
