Onslow County CrimeStoppers hopes fundraiser continues efforts
JACKSONVILLE, Onslow County - The Onslow County CrimeStoppers held its annual barbecue fundraiser on Thursday. They are hoping the event not only raises a lot of money but spreads awareness for the cause.
The CrimeStoppers luncheon has been held every year since 2000 when the Onslow County chapter was founded. Plates have been served with proceeds going toward helping catch criminals in the area.
The fundraiser brings in around $4,000, about a fifth of the organization's annual budget.
"I'm asking again that people consider when they think of charities, that they understand that 100% of all the money that comes to crimestoppers stays in the community," said Joe Yannesa, Jacksonville/Onslow Crimestoppers Chairman.
