Onslow Community Outreach offering extra assistance during hot days
JACKSONVILLE, Onslow County - Onslow Community Outreach is offering extra assistance to those who need to find a way to beat the heat this week.
The Segerman Caring Community Center, located at 600 Court Street in Jacksonville, will serve as a comfort station from noon-5 p.m. for the next five days -- this Wednesday through Sunday. It will provide water and food items. "The majority of our clients have barely enough resources to meet basic daily needs," said Cindy Williams, director of the Onslow Homeless Shelter. "Some are experiencing homeless. We want to provide food, water and shelter assistance to help them get through extreme weather conditions safely." In addition to the shelter, the Outreach operates a soup kitchen at the Segerman Center. The community can help by dropping off bottled water, light food items and financial donations. Onslow Community Outreach is a 501c3 nonprofit. For more information, call (910) 455-5733 or click here to learn more.
