One person injured in Greenville shooting
GREENVILLE, Pitt County - Greenville Police are investigating a shooting that happened Saturday night in the area of Nash and 3rd Street.
The incident happened just before 10 p.m. Police received a call in reference to shots fired in that vicinity.
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered one victim had been shot in the torso and had been transported by private vehicle to Vidant Medical Center. Police say the victim's injuries are considered non-life threatening.
They also tell NewsChannel 12 that the victim and suspect are acquaintances and are believed to have been involved in an altercation prior to the shooting. The suspect fled the scene prior to officers' arrival.
The incident is being investigated and charges are pending. The police department's spokesperson adds that there is no ongoing threat to the general public.
