OFFICIALS: Man wanted on rape charges attempts to flee deputies
GOLDSBORO, Wayne County - A Wayne County man is accused in a statutory rape case in Goldsboro, according to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities say Mark Alan Clark, 28, is charged with statutory rape of a child less than or equal to 15 years old. In late February deputies say they received a complaint from the eastern area of Wayne County.
Deputy Daniel Garrett responded and learned a 15-year-old female allegedly had sexual relations with Clark. After advising Detective Sgt. Larry N. Mitchell the juvenile was transported to Wayne/UNC Health Care.
During an attempt to contact Clark he stole a truck from Johnston County. He was stopped in Nashville, Tennessee where he was arrested on their charges and held in custody on Wayne County charges, according to deputies.
Clark waived extradition and he was returned to Wayne County where he is being held on multiple charges from Wayne and Johnston Counties. Further charges from Wayne County are pending.
According to government records Clark has a Goldsboro address. His bond was set at $250.000.00 on Wayne County Charges/ $20,000.00 on Johnston County Charges.
His charges are as follows: Wayne County-statutory rape of a child less than or equal to 15 Years Old. Johnston County/-Four felony charges including breaking and or entering motor vehicle; larceny of motor vehicle and damage to personal property.
