New York fugitive arrested in New Bern for attempted robbery
NEW BERN, Craven County - A New York man suspected of an attempted robbery was arrested in New Bern, police say.
On Wednesday, just after 3 p.m. on the 200 block of Middle Street, New Bern police officers responded to a call for an attempted robbery. After locating a man who matched the description of the suspect, a short chase ensued, ending in the capture and arrest of 32-year-old Jerel Russell.
Russell was charged with attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and resist, delay and obstruct an officer. He was wanted in connection with a parole violation for a robbery in New York. He is awaiting extradition to New York.
