New Bern woman charged with murder expected in court

NEW BERN, Craven County - A New Bern woman arrested and charged with an open count of murder is expected in court Monday morning. New Bern Police said she stabbed her husband in their home early Saturday morning.

In a press release from New Bern Police, Whittney Aleeze Tankson, 28, was arrested after an incident that happened at the 1100 block of Church Street. At approximately 4:22 a.m. Saturday, police responded to a stabbing call. They found the victim, Kenneth Antoine Tankson, 40, and transported him to CarolinaEast Medical Center in New Bern. He died from his injuries.

The incident occurred during a domestic altercation, police said in the press release.

Whittney Tankson is in jail under no bond. Her first court appearance is Monday.
