New Bern woman charged with murder makes first court appearance

NEW BERN, Craven County - A New Bern woman accused of stabbing and killing her husband will have a court-appointed attorney.

Whittney Aleeze Tankson, 28, was in court Monday morning. She's charged with an open count of murder in the death of her husbant, Kenneth Atoine Tankson, 40.

In a press release from New Bern Police, Whittney Tankson was arrested after an incident that happened at the 1100 block of Church Street. At approximately 4:22 a.m. Saturday, police responded to a stabbing call. They found the victim, Kenneth Tankson and transported him to CarolinaEast Medical Center in New Bern. He died from his injuries.

The incident occurred during a domestic altercation, police said in the press release.

Whittney Tankson's next court date is June 2.
