New Bern man arrested after stabbing victim in back of head

NEW BERN, Craven County - The Craven County Sheriff's Office has arrested a man and charged him after deputies said he stabbed a victim in the back of the head.

Gustavo Arturo Casillas, 35, of 1065 Antioch Road in New Bern was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. He is being held in the Craven County Jail under a $25,000 bond.

Deputies responded to the location on Oct. 5 to a report of a stabbing. Asher Toler advised he was in a physical altercation with Casillas and was stabbed in the back of the head. He was treated and later released from the hospital.
