New Bern heroin trafficker gets seven to nine years in prison
NEW BERN, Craven County - New Bern heroin trafficker Shawn Edward Shepard, 32, was sentenced to 80 to 108 months in prison on Wednesday.
Seepard was sentenced for 13 counts of trafficking in heroin, seven counts of possession with intent to sell or deliver heroin, two counts of sale of heroin and one count of a possession of a firearm by a felon. The cases were investigated by the Coastal Narcotics Enforcement Team, which did a series of "controlled buys" of heroin from Shepard in amounts ranging from $200 to $2,900.
After the last purchase, which involved using an cooperating informant, Shepard was stopped in a vehicle leaving the scene. He was found in possession of more than 15 grams of heroin and $ 1,300 cash. In all, the purchases totaled more than $9,000 worth of heroin.
