Update:Suspect arrested in home invasion investigation

BRIDGETON, Craven County - New Bern Police have arrested a suspect in connection to a home invasion in Bridgeton on Friday.

Information obtained during the course of the investigation led to the arrest of 43 year-old Jimmie Taylor Dunn Jr., according to police. Dunn sustained multiple gunshot wounds during the incident. He was treated at CarolinaEast Medical Center and released.

He is charged with First Degree Burglary, Robbery with a Firearm, and Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Dunn was placed in Craven County Jail with a $1,000,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in Craven County District Court on October 23, 2017. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A home invasion in Bridgeton Friday morning left the homeowner with non-life threatening injuries and the suspect possibly shot.

New Bern Police said officers responded at approximately 6:18 a.m. to Purifoy Street in reference to an intruder inside a residence. Police said the intruder had a handgun and demanded money from the victim. A struggle ensued and the victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.

As the suspect tried to flee, the victim was able to get a gun and fired several shots toward the suspect. It's unknown if the suspect was hit as he fled on foot before officers arrived.
