People hope meeting will lead to 'superstreet' in Duplin Co.
FAISON, Duplin County - The North Carolina Department of Transportation hosted an informational meeting Tuesday night on proposed changed to the NC 50 and US 117 connector intersection in Faison.
The meeting was slated for 5 to 7 p.m. at Faison Town Hall, 110 N.E. Center Street. In it, discussion was scheduled to be held on the proposed project that would turn the area into a "superstreet." The move would eliminate left turns at the intersection and have travelers continue past the intersection to make a u-turn to be able to change streets. According to NCDOT, these type of intersections ease delays and increase safety.
"I just can't imagine what it's going to look like," Mae Kennedy said. "There's a lot of traffic out there on that road. A lot of traffic."
Tuesday's meeting was to be conducted in open house format, where project staff members were scheduled to be on hand to answer questions and take comments from the public.
