Man wanted for New Bern shooting turns himself in
NEW BERN, Craven County - A New Bern man wanted in a domestic shooting turned himself into police Sunday night, authorities said.
Orlando Ellison, 28, turned himself in to the New Bern Police Department at 11:15 p.m., and is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and inflicting serious injury. He was also charged with second degree kidnapping and larceny of a motor vehicle stemming from the same incident.
He was placed into the Craven County Jail on a $500,000 secured bond (plus an additional $50 bond on the kidnapping and motor vehicle larceny charges) and will made his first appearance in court Monday.
The charges stem from a June 10 incident in which Ellison allegedly shot 25-year-old Harshe Fleming in a domestic altercation. Fleming was transporting to Vidant Medical Center for treatment, but no update was given on that individual's condition.
