The Martin County Sheriff's Office said Thursday that Michael Ojay Branch would be charged with second degree murder, following the April 26 death of 86-year-old Annie Pearl Bennett.

Deputies attempted to stop a white Ford truck with "Fear This" on the front windshield. The vehicle matched the description of one officials said was driven by Branch used to rob the State Employees Credit Union on West 15th Street in Washington.

A chase ensued and ended at the intersection of Main Street and South Watts Street after Branch's vehicle collided with one driven by Bennett. Branch, who is from Williamston, was taken into custody

A court date for Branch has not been set.
