Main gate at Camp Lejeune reopens after temporarily closure for maintenance


CAMP LEJEUNE, Onslow County - The main gate at the Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, has reopened after being temporarily closed for maintenance. The gate was closed Sunday morning at 7:45 a.m.

The reason for the closure was because the gate needed to under go routine, but preventative maintenance of security equipment. For the duration of the closure, only emergency vehicles would be allowed to go through the main gate. All other vehicles that would need to get on to the base are advised to gain access through the gate on Wilson Boulevard.

The Main Gate Visitor Center would still maintain it's standard weekend hours of operation, which go from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., for all authorized personnel and their guests. However vehicles would be detoured from the visitors center to the Wilson Boulevard gate after obtaining a vehicle pass.

Motorists are advised to plan their routes accordingly so that they would not be inconvenienced during the period of thee temporary closure.
