Local community members host third annual prayer walk
WALLACE, Duplin County - Some locals spent the weekend praying for peace against violence over the holiday weekend.
The town of Wallace held its third annual Unity in the Community prayer walk on Saturday, November 25, where community members and officials were able to come together to encourage peace and love as an alternative to violence.
Mayor Charley Farrior, along with other elected officials, made appearances at the walk. Officials with the Wallace Police Department and the Duplin County Sheriff's Office were also in attendance.
Several people of the community were prayed over under the direction of Reverend Warren Kearney of People of God Outreach Ministries.
Organizers said the idea is to encourage non-violence in communities across Eastern North Carolina.
