Lease unanimously passed for New Bern Farmers Market to remain
NEW BERN, Craven County - The New Bern farmers' market is here to stay at its current location.
The lease was unanimously passed by the New Bern Board of Aldermen in Tuesday's session. The farmer's market will stay on South Front Street for the next five years.

The only catch is the rent will go up from $1 a year to $500 a month.
"We've gone through our financials," New Bern City Manager Mark Stevens said. "We've gone through them with all of the aldermen that met with us and feel like that we can make this situation work."
There had been talk about moving the farmer's market location but a petition signed by thousands of people against that idea led to the decision Tuesday night.
