Kinston Teens, Chick-fil-A teaming up to celebrate College Signing Day
KINSTON, Lenoir County - If you just found out you're going to college in the fall, you're in luck.
Kinston Teens and the Chick-fil-A are joining forces to celebrate College Signing Day in the area. Tuesday until closing at 10 p.m., anyone accepted into a college or university beginning this fall can visit the Chick-fil-A in Kinston and receive a free sandwich. Just wear your college gear and bring your admission letter.
The Kinston City Council and Mayor BJ Murphy issued a proclamation in support of Kinston Teens' College Signing Day in Monday's meeting.
"We're excited to join forces with Chick-fil-A of Kinston to host this local celebration of College Signing Day," said Chris Suggs, founder of Kinston Teens. "As a board member for the Better Make Room Campaign, Michelle Obama's student-focused education initiative that supports College Signing Day events all around the world, I feel obligated to celebrate going to college through events like this in our local community."
The public is also encouraged to be at the fast food restaurant Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. for a special celebration to include a photo booth, promotional giveaways and appearances by local celebrities and community leaders.
"Promoting higher education and supporting our communities' young people are values that our Chick-fil-A and Chick-fil-A stores around the country hold dear," said John McPhaul, Operator of Chick-fil-A Kinston. "We do this through our support of schools, youth organizations and the Chick-fil-A Leadership Scholarship Program that provides thousands of scholarships for students each year.
"We're glad to partner with Kinston Teens to put those values to action in yet another way in our local community through this celebration of College Signing Day."
