Kinston PD seeks information in pair of weekend shootings

KINSTON, Lenoir County - The Kinston Police Department on Monday announced a pair of non-fatal shootings from over the weekend.

On Saturday, officers responded to a shots fired call at approximately 9:35 p.m. at an apartment complex on the 700 block of Joyner Drive. When officers reached the scene, they were informed that Daekwon Hines was taken to UNC Lenoir after being shot in the leg.

Shyeim Adams was treated for facial lacerations he received running into a clothes line while attempting to flee from the scene during the shooting. Two residences were also reported as being struck by gunfire as a result of the shooting.

Separately, on Friday, at approximately 5:30 p.m., KPD officers responded to a shots fired call in the area of Carey Road and Washington Avenue. Upon arriving, officers discovered a home in the 600 block of Carey Road had been struck by gunfire.

No injuries were reported as a result of the shooting, despite two people being home at the time it occured.
