Kinston man is fifth arrested, charged for 2016 murder

KINSTON, Lenoir County - A Kinston man was arrested Wednesday and charged in a murder that happened in June 2016.

Kinston Police said Jarion Jerrod Philips was arrested Wednesday and charged with murder and accessory after the fact to murder. He was arrested for the June 2016 murder of Antonio Lorenzo Hines. Four other people were arrested shortly after the murder.

Phillips was placed in the Lenoir County jail under a $5 million secured bond.

On June 26, 2016 at around 5:08 p.m., Kinston Police responded to a shots fired call. Officials discovered Hines dead near 1205 Lynn Drive in Kinston.
