MYRTLE BEACH, SOUTH CAROLINA – Dr. Lawrence Rouse, President of James Sprunt Com-munity College, was awarded the 2018 Distinguished College President Administrator Award by the Phi Theta Kappa Carolinas Region during the 2018 annual convention awards banquet in Myrtle Beach, SC, March 11, 2018.
The Carolinas Region consists of 84 Phi Theta Kappa chapters in the states of North Carolina and South Carolina.
“Our President is available, supportive, and encouraging,” said Cynthia Delafuenta, the PTK ad-visor for the Beta Epsilon Chi chapter at James Sprunt. “Dr. Rouse goes above and beyond in supporting PTK.”
The PTK chapter at James Sprunt recently achieved a 5-star level rating, the highest rating pos-sible, something that Dr. Rouse has promoted through his leadership over the honor society, with hopes that the chapter will continue to stand out within the college and also within the com-munity, through service projects and scholastic achievements.
“I have always supported PTK and I am honored to receive this award from the Carolinas Re-gion,” said Dr. Lawrence Rouse.
As spoken by one of our students, “Dr. Rouse is an excellent leader and excellent mentor,” said Stacey Floyd, who serves as the SGA President. “He is someone that we can look up to and hopefully be able to follow in his footsteps.”
