NEW BERN, Craven County - A man shot multiple times by a homeowner during a home invasion on Friday made his first appearance Monday morning.

43 year-old Jimmie Taylor Dunn Jr. is charged with first degree burglary, robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault with intent to kill.

According to New Bern Police, Dunn forced his way into a home on Purifoy street armed with a handgun and demanded money. Robert Rowe, who lives inside the home, gave Dunn $300 and a struggle ensued. Rowe suffered non life threatening injuries and two black eyes. The victim also fired several shots toward Dunn, who then ran away.

Dunn is now being held at the Craven County Detention Center on a $1,000,000 bond. He is ordered to have no contact with Rowe.

The judge appointed Lee Bettis as Dunn's attorney. When asked for a comment, Bettis told NewsChannel 12 that everyone is innocent until proven guilty.

Dunn's next court date is November 9th.
