Hit-and-run incident involves school bus, truck
PLYMOUTH, Washington County - A school bus transporting 24 students to school was rear-ended in a hit-and-run incident Thursday morning.
According to Shawnda Cherry, Washington County Schools Public Information Officer, school bus No. 162 was transporting Washington County Union middle school students to school. A dark-colored truck ran into the rear of the bus on East Third Street in Plymouth. The press release said witnesses said the truck then backed down Third Street, turned around and left the scene.
Six students were transported to Washington County Hospital by EMS as a precaution. They were treated and later released. Two additional students later went to the hospital to be examined.
The 18 other students on the bus at the time of the accident were transported to school on a different bus. Law enforcement is currently investigating.
