Groundbreaking ceremony held for new hotel set to open in Beaufort

BEAUFORT, Carteret County - Concord Hospitality Enterprises Company broke ground for the new 133-room Beaufort Hotel.

Representatives from the company joined officials from the Crystal Coast Tourism Authority to break ground Thursday on the property where the hotel will sit. It's a joint venture between Concord and Beaufort Hospitality Enterprises and is scheduled to open in 2018. The hotel will be three stories with four waterfront suites overlooking Taylor's Creek. Concord Hospitality said a separate 30,488-square-foot, two-story building will provide 8,444 square feet of meeting space and a 3,584-inside and 5,987-outside square-foot restaurant, 34° North. "With our headquarters in Raleigh, this hotel is part of our extended hometown, an area in which we have operated for more than three decades," said Mark Laport, Concord's President and CEO, in a press release. "This marks our eighth property in the state, and we look forward to being good neighbors and active members of the community for years to come." Beaufort Hospitality Enterprises is owned by Bucky and Wendi Oliver, who also operate Front Street Village. "The construction of Beaufort Hotel and 34° North is a great step forward for the tourism and economic development on North Carolina's Crystal Coast. With this new property comes 100 new jobs and additional revenue for the area. We look forward to seeing the hotel attract additional tourists to the region," said Bucky Oliver.
