Man faces slew of felony charges after attempting to run over five police officers
GREENVILLE, Pitt County - A Greenville man is under arrest for a slew of felony charges after attempting to run over five officers.
Jamar "Chicken Wing" Savage was arrested overnight Wednesday and booked into the Pitt County Detention Center early Thursday morning.
Savage stole a car from the Sterling Pointe neighborhood on Wednesday morning. Officers located Savage sitting in the stolen car in the parking lot of the Camelot Inn late Wednesday night.
Officers attempted to serve Savage with a warrant for the stolen car, but he fled the scene and attempted to run five officers over as he left the area. The officers were not injured.
Later on Wednesday, officers located Savage at an apartment on Concord Drive. He was taken into custody without incident and was found to be in possession of a stolen gun and drugs at the time of his arrest.
He is charged with multiple felonies, including possession of a firearm by a felon, assault with a deadly weapon on a law enforcement officer, fleeing/eluding arrest, possession with intent to sell or distribute cocaine, and larceny of a motor vehicle, among others.
According to court records, the drug charges against Savage stem from a prior arrest.
His bond is set at $930,000.
