Platinum Corral, a multi-unit franchise operator of Golden Corral® Buffet-Grill restaurants, today announced that its Greenville, North Carolina, location at 504 Greenville Blvd. SW, has raised $93,752, the most in the nation, in the restaurant chain's annual Camp Corral fundraiser. The donation will cover the full cost of an unforgettable camp experience for more than 150 children of wounded, injured, ill or fallen military families. For five out of the past six years, the Greenville Golden Corral has outperformed 491 other locations across the country, breaking records as the restaurant chain's top fundraiser. The Greenville-based Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 37 played a key role in the 2017 fundraising effort, dedicating more than 8,000 volunteer hours to help send kids to camp. DAV volunteers collected donations from restaurant guests as well as Greenville businesses. "We're humbled by the outpouring of support from staff, volunteers, local businesses and guests," said Dave Adams, hospitality manager, Greenville Golden Corral. "We thank the Greenville community for their generosity and dedication to giving these kids a once-in-a-lifetime camp experience." At Camp Corral, military kids are free to be kids, away from the stresses and unique challenges of military life. Campers participate in a variety of fun outdoor activities such as kayaking, horseback riding, ropes course challenges, archery and rock climbing. They also build lifelong friendships and bond with other kids who share similar family situations. Since October 2001, the world in which American military children grow up has changed dramatically due to unprecedented levels of deployment and the increased reliance on Reserve and Guard members. To date, more than 2.1 million American men and women have deployed. Of those Service members, approximately 44 percent are parents.
