Gov. Cooper offering reward in murder of Onslow Co. brothers
RALEIGH - Gov. Roy Cooper is getting involved in the unsolved murders of two Onslow County brothers.
The state is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest of the murders of Deandre and Tyler Gilbert. Their bodies were found on Hardy Graham Road in the Mapel Hill area of Onslow County in May 2016. Deputies said the brothers were shot and killed execution style. Their bodies were found in a ditch on a dirt road. Deputies did make an arrest in the case when Steven McCarty was arrested in December 2016. He was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and obstruction of justice. Deputies have not yet charged anyone with murder.
