GoFundMe account set up for Martin County murdered mother, daughter
WILLIAMSTON, Martin County - A GoFundMe account has been set up to pay for funeral expenses for the Martin County mother and daughter who were found murdered last week.
The account was started by Kelly Connors in Williamston on Dec. 2. It's raised just over $1,600 so far with a $5,000 goal.
The account states:
"We lost two precious family members, Dawnn Ward and Taylor Carroll, to a vicious act of murder. While we try so hard to make sense of all that has happened we also know that there will be financial needs including helping Dawnn's mom who lost her only child and only granddaughter and Dawnn's son. We greatly appreciate the outpouring of support and prayers for our family."
On Monday, the Medical Examiner's Office in Greenville said Ward and Carroll were stabbed to death. Ward was stabbed a single time in her chest. Carroll was stabbed multiple times in the chest.
Jeffrey Todd Ward of 2923 McCaskey Rd. in Williamston was arrested and charged with two counts of murder with no bond on Saturday. Also charged was Jerrett Cole Ward of 2923 McCaskey Rd. in Williamston. He was charged with two counts of accessory after the fact to murder with a $1 million bond.
The two are brothers. They had their first court appearance on Monday.
Ward and Carroll went missing on Nov. 27 and were reported missing by the Martin County Sheriff's Office the following day. The two were found dead in a well in Martin County Dec. 1.
