Gas rate increase for Greenville Utilities customers to begin Saturday
GREENVILLE, Pitt County - Citing rising prices of natural gas, Greenville Utilities is increasing prices for customers, beginning tomorrow.
A typical bill will increase by a $1.59 for those who use 25 ccf (100 cubic feet) of natural gas in a monthly billing period.
"For the past 12 months, market future prices have been averaging higher and higher," GUC Natural Gas Supply Officer Freddie Martin said in a press release. "We were able to hold our rates steady while prices continued along this trend, but since those costs are not predicted to go back down soon, we have to adjust our rates."
GUC said it does not profit from fluctuations in gas costs.
