Four-vehicle accident closes NC 43

GREENVILLE, Pitt County - An accident involving four vehicles closed NC 43 in both directions on Tuesday.

NewsChannel 12's Adam Gaub reports two vehicles were totally burned with two others severely damaged. Black Jack Fire and Greenville Fire & Rescue responded to the scene along with the N.C. State Highway Patrol.

Trooper Adrian Bowen with the NCSHP said a driver was taken by ambulance to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville after he hit three parked cars at Glenn's Heating A C & Electric on NC 43. The vehicles burst into flames. A mailbox was also taken out.

The clean-up and investigation into the incident was being conducted for about an hour before the roads opened again around 2:30 p.m.
